About Us
While it has always been important for adolescents to have trusted advisors in their lives, who they can confide in, learn from, build confidence and grow with, this is needed now more than ever.
In a fast-paced culture where social media, tik tok and youtube can be all consuming, we are taught to live by comparison… measuring ourselves against other people and the images of their lives that fill our screens. This can wreak havoc on our self-worth, fuel anxiety, addictions, depression, and lead us to look for ways to numb feelings and isolate in a society that is supposed to be more connected than ever.
At Healthy Buzz, we build habits and relationships with ourselves and one another that support us on our personal growth journeys. We learn self-care practices that encourage balance, including: journaling, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation and yoga.
Tara Castleberry, Founder
Tara Castleberry is an educator, entrepreneur, RYT-500 yoga teacher, lifelong learner, and advocate for social change. As a first-generation college graduate, Tara entered her career in education eager to support her 12th grade Language Arts students. She received her BA in English & Spanish from the University of CT and has spent the last 18 years developing her skills as a professional in the national non-profit sector, where she has worked at every level of the public school system to help partners achieve goals for K-12 students.
In 2014, Tara participated in a 3-month residency at the Mount Madonna Center in California, where she began her journey of healing and connecting more deeply with herself and others through the sacred yogic teachings that feed her spiritual growth, inspire, and inform her on the eightfold path.
Tara’s life experiences and career trajectory fostered the learning, growth and inspiration that led her to Maui, where she founded Healthy Buzz LLC in service of introducing youth to self-care practices and tools she wished she’d learned earlier. As a person in long-term recovery from struggles with substance abuse, perfectionism, anxiety and overwhelm, all Tara’s community offerings are built on the elements she has found to be transformative in her own life. Her firsthand experiences of how our modernized world can lead us to live by comparison, rather than from awareness of our own unique gifts, potential and worth, fuels her enthusiasm for working to promote the balanced sense of well-being needed to walk confidently in today’s world.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”
